What is Hydrography?

The dictionary defines hydrography as "the science of surveying and charting bodies of water, such as seas, lakes, and rivers."

This science provides measurement and description of the physical features in these bodies of water that support safety of navigation, economic development, environmental protection, leisure ventures, scientific research and all sorts of other marine activities.

At THSOA, we celebrate everyone in the hydrographic community:  licensed hydrographers, bathymetric surveyors, students of ocean sciences, and anyone dedicated to foster public awareness and promote better education of persons engaged in the study of hydrography.
